VPN server locations and what they change

Five places in Europe and Asia, and none in India. What the location does to the address websites see, and how to pick one.

Operator's sheet

Five places, none in India

The server list has Germany (Berlin), Austria (Vienna), Czechia (Prague), Singapore and South Korea (Seoul). The location decides which country a website thinks you are in.

The list has nothing located in India, which rules out an Indian address.

What a location changes

When you connect, websites see the address of the server, not the one from your provider. Location databases then place that address in the server's country, which is why a lookup page shows Berlin or Seoul. A lookup is a guess made from a database, so the city it names can be off by some distance, and different databases disagree.

What it does not change is who you are on the sites where you sign in. An account, a cookie or a browser fingerprint still identifies you, whatever address the page sees.

We have no location in India

None of the locations is in India, so the service cannot give you an Indian address, and it cannot open Indian services that are limited to users inside the country. A page that promises that is describing a different product. Pick from the five places above instead, and look at what you actually need from the route. If a page only works with an Indian address, no location in this list will give you one.

Choosing one of the five

  1. Start with the nearest location to where you are, since a longer path adds delay. We do not publish ping or speed figures.

  2. If a service in one place behaves oddly, switch to another place and try again.

  3. For a site that depends on the apparent country, check that site's own terms before relying on a route.

  4. Keep the location you chose written down, then run an address lookup after connecting to confirm it.

A note on game servers and "proxy server" searches

A game's server list is easy to mistake for a VPN location, but they are two things. A game's server is chosen by the game, and a tunnel only changes the path to it; it does not move your account to another game region. Rules differ for each game and region, and an account can be restricted if you break the game's terms. Check them before you try anything.

Rules and how the page was made

VPN rules are not the same in every country and they change, so keep to local law and to the terms of the services you open. This site sells the five locations, so run the address lookup yourself after connecting and judge by what it shows. The list of five places was matched to the service configuration after a model drafted the page.

A lookup page also helps when you move between locations: note the country it shows each time, and you will see the change without any special tool.

Call log

01Why does a lookup show a different city from the server's?

Location databases are estimates, and they differ. The country is usually closer than the city.

02Can I switch locations during a session?

Yes, disconnect and pick another server in the client.

03Does a location change what my provider sees?

Your provider still sees a connection to the server's address and how much data moves, but not the pages inside it.

04Will you add India?

The site lists nothing beyond those five, and we make no promises about future locations.

05Which location is best for speed?

We have no measurements to give. The nearest is a fair first try.
